There are a few things you need to keep in mind if you intend to make use of your Unix
accounts at Wesleyan. They are as follows:
If you are using a PC:
- You must have a valid account on condor.wesleyan.edu. This machine (if you do not
already know) if the campus academic general purpose server. Thus it contains all the
programs for doing stuff like making programs and web pages etc etc. If this is not true,
mail helpdesk@wesleyan.edu.
- You must have a valid NT domain account (if you are curious why, it is because
condor forwards all attempts to connect there). If this is true, then you are able to log into
the computer falcon by means of the Windows Network Neighborhood. If this is not true,
mail operations@wesleyan.edu.
- Your computer must have Windows networking properly installed. This may be
quickly tested by going to your start button to "Run" and typing there \\falcon.wesleyan.edu.
If you get an error after a while, Windows networking is probably not working.
Otherwise, if you have a Macintosh you need to make sure of the following:
- You must have a valid account on condor.wesleyan.edu. This machine (if you do not
already know) if the campus academic general purpose server. Thus it contains all the
programs for doing stuff like making programs and web pages etc etc. If this is not true,
mail helpdesk@wesleyan.edu.
- You must have an IP capable chooser. This is true for any Macintosh of revision 7.6
or later. If you do not meet this requirement, you may still download a new revision of the
chooser by going to Apple and downloading a new
version of the chooser.
Once these criteria are met, you are as they say, golden.
