Vacation GUI

When people go on vacation here at Wesleyan, they may not be able to check their mail while out. This poses problems for people who receive a lot of mail and may be faced with filling their quota on mail. For a long time, Wesleyan has offered a vacation message so that if one receives a mail while on vacation, a message explaining that the recipient is not available is returned to the sender.
Unfortunately, this system came with a high amount of maintenance. If a user wished to enter the system they needed to contact someone at ITS and be manually added. As users returned to campus, they had to get in touch with someone to make sure their vacation message was "turned off," or they would not receive mail.
Recently, a web interface was written to automate these tasks so that the user might do this work without outside intervention. The system works through a series of menus which ask for the pertinent times of the vacation as well as the text of the message (or forward) the user wishes to have. This data is stored in a small database so that as people begin or end their vacation, their mail will automatically begin forwarding back to the sender as the vacation begins and return to normal when the vacation ends.
The address of this interface is:http://www.wesleyan.edu/cgi-bin/vacation_gui.cgi
